Abu Dhabi company plans to build the first Emirate aircraft by 2019

One of the units of the UAE's Mubadala Development Company, an open joint stock company, Mubadala Aerospace, announced its intention to build the first Emirate aircraft on its own by 2019.

“We will be able to build the first UAE-made aircraft in 9-10 years - by 2019. We set ourselves this task,” said Abdullah Shadid, Commercial Director of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network. “Construction will take place gradually, as it will a maintenance and repair organization (MRO) division is set up. We hope that over time our products will become globally competitive. "

Mr. Shadid also noted that over the next ten years, Mubadala will focus on the aerospace industry in order to turn it into one of the most important factors developing the economy of Abu Dhabi. "The creation of MRO is the initial stage in the development of the aerospace industry.

We started doing this a few years ago, and now we have smoothly switched to the production and construction of Strata, a combined complex for the production of aerostructures, which is wholly owned by Mubadala, ”said Abdullah Shadid. “This complex is located in Al Ain and is the next step in the sector of building our own aircraft.”

As for the changes in the MRO industry in the Middle East region, now its development can be described as "moving up the spiral." Experts expect that investment in it will reach 25.7 billion dirhams (US $ 7 billion) by 2020. The MRO market in other regions, such as Europe, North America and Africa, will also grow, but on a much smaller scale.
