Wilfredo's birds of paradise

NAME VILFREDO ROSADO IS FAMOUS IN THE WORLD OF FASHION HERE ALREADY FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS. SOME TIME ANDY WARHOL'S LEGENDARY RECOMMENDED GEORGIO ARMANI TO TAKE A WILFREDO TO WORK, CARRYING OUT ITS OTHERWISE AS FOLLOWING, “IT HAS IT PERFORMEDLY TIGHTEN. THEN, WILFREDO WAS STUDENT STILL AND WORKING IN PARAJUT CLUB IN MANHETTEN. I MEET VILFREDO IN DUBAI, WHERE HE PRESENTED HIS FIRST JEWELRY COLLECTION UNDER THE WILFREDO ROSADO LABEL. WE TALKED ...

Wilfredo, honestly, did Giorgio Armani see a talent in you?

I think they prompted him (laughs). But after graduating from America, I started working at the Giorgio Armani House in Italy in 1989, and in 1994 I returned to New York, already as the fashion director of the House, and for many years became Giorgio's “eyes and ears” in America . He trusted me, and upon returning to the United States, I proposed to pay more attention to urban youth, offering them graceful and elegant fashionable clothes “for the street”. It seems we did it.

When did you feel that you want to work on your own?

I worked with Armani for almost 20 years, and in 2008 I decided to become more independent, so I devoted myself to independent projects with different Fashion Houses, such as Versace. It was there that I developed, along with other artists, a limited series of expensive jewelry, which were later sold to the Whitney Museum. This collaboration gave me the idea of creating my own brand.

In your new collection, which you presented at Dubai’s Bloomingdale's Gallery, I noticed stunning bird ornaments decorated with natural feathers. Why birds?

I don’t know, it seemed to me that colored feathers always attracted the attention of fashionistas. Take, for example, boas, fans and other women's accessories that have come down to us from centuries ago and have been widely used in famous dance shows and cabarets on Broadway or in Paris. I think that the combination of precious metals, diamonds and colored gemstones with feathers is a new word in high jewelry. And when people come across something new, it will certainly attract their attention.

I also believe that my collaboration with Maison De Marie, the old French haute couture house owned by the Chanel House, allows me to create unique jewelery with feathers of the highest quality. Thus, I introduce the laws of haute couture into fine jewelry.

Who is that woman you can call a "Wilfredo Rosado woman"?

Oh, there are millions of them (laughs). Each of my jewelry is a statement. My brooches, earrings, necklaces, rings are large and quite daring. Creating them, I usually imagine a woman, firstly, sexual, and secondly, who wants to attract the attention of others. Otherwise, she is unlikely to wear my jewelry. At the same time, a dress or costume can be extremely simple, but with clear and again expressed sexual forms, then the jewelry will speak for itself.

Yes, I must tell you that Russian women are already willingly purchasing my jewelry. And you know why? I released my collection on February 8, 2011, the very next day on February 9, my earrings were photographed for the Russian Vogue! So, Russia was the first to know about me!

What connects you with Bloomingdale's Dubai Gallery, and how did you feel when you got here?

An old dream brought me to Dubai. When I first started working on my collection, I dreamed of presenting it in three places: at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York, and my collection is there today; at the Harrods Gallery in London, and she is there too; and finally in Dubai. Moreover, initially I did not know exactly where in Dubai, since I had never been here before. And here I am! At Bloomingdale's and I'm happy! For me, the Middle East is the embodiment of a fairy tale; I have always idealized this part of the world. I believe that irrepressible sexuality is hidden here, even though women are completely covered in black robes and men are white. This is a mystical, magical region. And I think my birds will like it here (laughs).

I wish you success here and "high flying" to your birds of paradise. They are beautiful and will surely find their fans.

Thank you for your attention to me and my collections. I wish all your readers health and joy. Let them be surrounded by kindness and beauty.
