Expatriates in the UAE must be in the country, changing a resident visa and employer

According to the UAE Ministry of Labor, a foreign expatriate changing an employer should be in the country during this process and not leave it until the procedure for re-issuing documents is completed.

An explanation on this issue was made by a representative of the ministry in connection with the request of one of the companies that applied for a resident visa for an engineer of Arab origin, who was dismissed from his previous job. The application for a new visa was rejected due to the fact that the engineer left the country three months ago, and his resident visa was canceled.

"The ministry refused the company to issue a resident visa for a new employee due to the fact that he is outside the UAE," a representative of the ministry said. - "A new visa can be issued to him only after a year. The presence of an employee in the country when changing one resident visa to another, or updating it, is mandatory."
