Opened 818 meters of the Burj Khalifa, and opened 828 meters of the Burj Khalifa

The grand opening ceremony of the Burj Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world, brought a sensation - it turned out to be 10 meters higher and changed its name. The real name and true height of the tallest building in the world became known only at the time of its grand opening on January 4, 2010. The name of the building is Burj Khalifa, and its height is 828 meters.

The building received its new name in honor of the current president of the United Arab Emir, comrade Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan. One of the reasons for renaming the building is the gratitude of the UAE Vice President, Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of the emirate of Dubai, to the president of the country for his help in solving a number of economic problems of the emirate of Dubai.

Tens of thousands of onlookers gathered in the immediate vicinity of the Bourge Khalifa, some of whom began to take their places as early as 4 pm - a number of local media reported that the grand opening would take place at 5 pm. Even more spectators were eagerly awaiting the opening in the most diverse areas of Dubai - the tower is clearly visible for many kilometers.

Already at 7 o’clock in the evening, almost all the routes around the Bourge Khalifa got stuck in traffic - despite the calls from the authorities, many felt that it would be more comfortable to get to the skyscraper with their car. As a result, thousands of people threw cars a few kilometers from the place of the grand opening of the tower and walked in the hope of catching before the ceremony. The organizers of the show did their best, and the culmination of the grand opening - a grandiose salute of 10 thousand shots and an enchanting light show, could be seen for tens of kilometers. To create lighting effects, 320 powerful searchlights were used, sending their rays into the sky to a height of 10 kilometers. In addition to them, the building was also illuminated by the largest floodlight of 72 kilowatts ever used in the world.

However, the smoke from the festive fireworks did not go unnoticed by the reporters and another event - just after the grand opening of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, Prince Alwalid from Saudi Arabia announced the launch of a project to build the Kingdom Tower 1.1 km high in the port of Jeddah in the west kingdoms. The authors of the project were Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, who designed the newly opened Burj Khalifa building, which is still the tallest in the world.
