Dubai once again set a regional record for hotel occupancy

Dubai hotels again turned out to be the “busiest” in the Gulf region.

According to the British company EY, an increase in average occupancy rate by 4% was observed in the hotel market in Dubai compared to the same period last year. City hotels brought the emirate to first place in the region.

“Dubai’s city hotels showed the highest occupancy rate of 89.1% of the Gulf cities, while beach hotels reached the highest average room rates of $ 399,” said Yusuf Wahba, head of real estate operations in EY, the Middle East and North Africa.

According to an EY study conducted in February 2017, a number of events and exhibitions such as the Gulf Food Exhibition and the Bridal Show Event contributed to the busyness of Dubai and Abu Dhabi hotels.

According to analysts, half of the markets in the Gulf countries showed an increase in room yield: in the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar. At the same time, the other half - Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain - experienced a slowdown.
