UAE President re-elected

The President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was re-elected to a new five-year term by unanimous decision of the UAE Supreme Council and the National Federal Council.

In accordance with the UAE Constitution, it is precisely these federal bodies, formed from the rulers of all seven emirates of the country, federal ministers and people respected in the country, that have the function of appointing the President of the United Arab Emirates.

The new presidential term is the second for Sheikh Khalifa. He was first elected President of the Emirates in 2004, replacing his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the most famous and respected emirate, who was also the founding father of the UAE, at the highest state post.

Commenting on their decision, members of the UAE High Council and the UAE Federal Council, each in their own way, noted the successful work of Sheikh Khalifa as president, expressing confidence that the new term of government would give him even more opportunities for the development of the country and strengthening its status in the international arena.
