The ruler of Dubai among Facebook users is gaining momentum

The ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, has become one of the most popular public figures in the social network Facebook.

The personal page of a Facebook user created by Sheikh Mohammed in June of this year was transformed into a public page within three weeks, since the number of requests to add the ruler of Dubai as a friend exceeded the allowable Facebook limit of 5000 people. Today, fans of Sheikh Mohammed’s public page have nearly 74,000 Facebook users.

On her page, the sheikh not only posts information about herself, photos and notes, but also actively communicates with her fans, including on state affairs. Users of the page often turn to the sheikh for personal questions. There are critics among users, with whom the sheikh also communicates in open conversation. Today, Sheikh Mohammed is already close to the most popular public figure in the regional segment of Facebook, the leader of the Iranian opposition, Mir-Hussein Mousavi, who has 114,283 fans.

The least popular person in the Arabic segment is Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is supported by only 54 Facebook users.
