In March 2008, a Kazakh delegation led by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Kozhasbay, paid a working visit to the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, two memorandums were signed between the CCI of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry - "On Understanding" and "On the Creation of the Kazakhstan-Emirate Business Council."
The parties expressed confidence that the signing of these documents will contribute to the further deepening of bilateral trade and economic ties. During the meeting of the President of the CCI of the Republic of Kazakhstan, E. Kozhasbay, with the Secretary General of the CCI of the UAE, Salah Salem al-Shamisi, an agreement was reached on holding the first meeting of the Kazakhstan-Emirate Business Council in Kazakhstan and a return visit of the emirate business delegation.
During the visit, members of the Kazakh delegation got acquainted with the major investment projects of the emirate of Dubai, the experience of the free economic zone of Ras Al Kheim, and also established direct contacts with representatives of business circles of the UAE. In addition, at a meeting with the leadership of the CCI of the Emirate of Sharjah, an agreement was reached on organizing an exhibition of investment opportunities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
