A visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates will enter into force in October-November 2017.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Abu Dhabi and the Director of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE discussed the procedure for the entry into force of a visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan
The Kazakhstan side has completed domestic procedures for the entry into force of a document providing for the exemption from visas of citizens of two states, holders of civil passports, for a period of up to 30 days. This was stated by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, Kairat Lama Sharif, during a meeting with the Director of the Department of Consular Services of the UAE MFA Yasser al-Shimali on August 22 in Abu Dhabi.
In turn, Yasser al-Shimali informed that the Emirate side is also completing domestic procedures for the entry into force of the signed bilateral protocol, allowing visa-free travel of citizens of Kazakhstan to the UAE.
After approval of the decision of the Government of the UAE in September 2017, all state bodies of the Emirates, as well as the international airports of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other emirates will be informed about this and will make adjustments and changes to their internal rules.
According to the Director of the DCS of the UAE MFA, the approximate date for the entry into force of a visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan is October-November 2017.
For reference: May 23, 2017 in Astana, following the results of negotiations between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan, a Protocol was signed on mutual visa-free travel for citizens who hold passports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.
On July 20, 2017, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan by its resolution approved the aforementioned Protocol on amendments and additions to the intergovernmental Agreement of May 13, 2010.
On July 26, 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, through diplomatic channels, informed the UAE foreign department about the completion of domestic procedures in Kazakhstan necessary for the entry into force of the bilateral Protocol.
