UAE updates stadiums before World Cup

The United Arab Emirates is preparing to host the best football clubs at the World Cup in December.

The organizers of the 2017 Club World Cup in the UAE announced the behavior of the modernization and reconstruction of stadiums as part of preparing the country to host the best clubs in the world next month.

The tournament, which runs from December 6-16, will feature the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi and the Hazza bin Zayed in Al Ain.

Clubs such as CF Pachuca, Auckland City FC, Real Madrid and Al Jazira, as well as the winners of the CAF Champions League (African Champions Cup), the Champions League of the Asian Confederation of Football and the Libertadores Cup will arrive at the World Cup, according to the state news agency WAM.

"There are world-class stadiums and educational institutions in the UAE, and we are very pleased with the preparation of the local organizing committee for this tournament in December," said Jamie Yarza, head of FIFA Events.

At each stadium, infrastructure was redesigned ahead of the December event as part of FIFA compliance.

Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, which won the Stadium of the Year title in 2014, has made significant technological advances and is now the only UAE stadium ready to broadcast 4k ultra-high-definition matches.

Zayed Sports City, the largest football stadium in the UAE, underwent a major renovation ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the UAE in 2009 and received several improvements, including in terms of VIP venues before the competition this year.

Aref Al-Avani, director of the local organizing committee, said: “Our impressive stadiums and educational institutions were noted during FIFA inspections. Investments in Zayed Sports City Stadium and Hazza bin Zayed Stadium made them the leading sports venues in the region. We look forward to the team and fans in December this year to participate in the 2017 Club World Cup in the UAE. "
