UAE launches charitable foundation with Bill Gates

In the United Arab Emirates launched a charity fund of $ 100 million with the participation of Bill Gates.

At the forum in Abu Dhabi, the UAE announced the launch of a new fund, the purpose of which was to raise $ 100 million to fight tropical diseases.

The Last Mile Fund was created with an initial donation of $ 20 million from the UAE and up to $ 20 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The fund aims to support efforts to combat some of the deadliest diseases in Africa and the Middle East.

The Health Summit was attended by Jim Young Kim, President of the World Bank Group, Dr. Tedros Gebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization, Bill Gates, Co-Chair and Trustee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and UAE leaders.

During the event, Gates spoke about plans to create a modern research institute in Abu Dhabi in partnership with the UAE government, which will work with international partners to study deadly diseases.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the urgent need for long-term strategies and international partnerships so that the fund can achieve its goals.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, said he hoped for the support and success of international organizations to help fight dangerous diseases.
