Dentist from Russia arrested in Dubai for illegal work at home

In Dubai, a female doctor from Russia was detained, who provided medical services at home, which led to the hospitalization of the patient.

A Russian woman who previously worked as a dentist in a Dubai hospital has been detained for providing medical services in her apartment without a license.

Ahmad Al Attar, assistant chief prosecutor at the Bur Dubai prosecutor’s office, said the suspect had lost her job at the hospital and started advertising her services on Facebook. The woman offered cosmetic and medical procedures that were carried out in her apartment.

Illegal practice became known when a woman of Uzbek origin came to see the suspect. The patient lost consciousness after an unsuccessful cosmetic procedure during which a Russian woman reportedly made seven injections with a substance of unknown origin. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she woke up with a protruding redness. She was also reported to be in pain.

Al Attar said: "The suspect was immediately arrested. During the interrogation, she claimed that the patient pretended to be in pain and exaggerated the severity of her condition so as not to pay the remaining amount of 1000 dirhams $ 272."

The investigation confirmed that the female doctor did not have the necessary permits from the health department to provide her services. The suspect pleaded guilty. The Russian woman’s case was sent to the Dubai Court of Crimes, where she will be charged with providing medical services without a license and that she endangered the patient’s life.

The procedures that the suspect carried out included facial peeling and botox enlargement of the lips. The patient paid 700 dirhams ($ 190) and had to add another 1000 dirhams.
