UAE arrested man for shooting victims of crime scene

United Arab Emirates police arrested a man for filming two victims of an attack.

In the emirate of Ajman, UAE, a man was arrested who made and published photographs and a video showing the victims of a recent incident. Then, as a result of the fight, two people died.

Ajman’s Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation (CID), Major Muhammad Yafur Al-Ghafli, said the arrest was made after the video began to be distributed on social networks.

Major Al-Ghafli said the police identified and arrested the suspect an hour after photos and videos were uploaded to social networks.

Major Al-Ghafli said the suspect intentionally shot and photographed the police at the crime scene while the officers were on duty.

On the record, the suspect's voice is clearly audible.

The suspect was arrested on charges of misusing the technical device and violating the personal integrity of others, the official said.

He will be prosecuted under the UAE Cybercrime Act. Section 21 of this law states that a person is “punished with imprisonment for a term of at least six months and / or a fine of at least 150 thousand dirhams ($ 40.8 thousand), but not more than 500 thousand dirhams ($ 136 thousand)” for such offenses.

The Law on Cybercrime applies to the use of any technical means to violate personal integrity, including photographing, publishing or displaying received images.
