170 thousand lost items found at Dubai airports

Nearly 170 thousand personal items lost by passengers were found at Dubai airports.

Dubai, UAE. The security services of Dubai Airports last year found a total of 169,462 personal items lost by passengers on the territory of air terminals. Among the finds are mobile phones, Rolex watches and bags with large amounts of cash, said Ali bin Lachezh, director of the Dubai Airport Police Head Office.

He noted that 50,973 items were returned to the owners, and 5998 valuable items were transferred to law enforcement agencies to conduct an investigation about their origin. Dubai police officers are reportedly looking for passengers to return their valuables, even outside the UAE.

It is worth noting that things are not the only thing that people lose. So, last year a woman with mental disabilities was lost at Dubai Airport. The mother of a 23-year-old woman flew to Dubai and informed the police that her daughter had disappeared three days ago. Thanks to CCTV cameras, the girl was able to be found in the staff room and transferred to the mother.

In 2017, 91,200,261 passengers used the services of Dubai's international airports.
