In the UAE, a lonely "poet" called the police for three consecutive months

In the UAE, a single man called the police for three consecutive months to read his poems.

Dubai, UAE. For three months, a lone man called Ajman’s police at midnight to read poems to officers and talk about life. This was announced by the head of the dispatch department, Colonel-Lieutenant Hisham Abdullah bu Shihab during a press conference.

The officer noted that the police received a lot of "non-urgent" calls. After the officers convinced the man that number 999 was intended only for emergency calls, he switched to another number - 901 - and began to bother the police with him.

“He's just a lonely old man looking for communication. The officers talked to them in a humane and respectful manner,” said Bu Shehab. Among other amusing cases, he called calls from residents during Ramadan who were interested in whether the sunset had come and whether they could start a conversation. These calls are not recorded in the system, as well as the calls of the "silent" or childish pranks.
