Abu Dhabi hosts "Mother of the Nation" festival

The Mother of the Nation festival returns to Abu Dhabi on March 12.

Dubai, UAE. The Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi announced that the fourth Mother of the Nation festival will return to the UAE capital from March 12 to March 23, 2019 simultaneously with the World Games of the Special Olympics, which will be held from March 14 to 21. More than 7,500 athletes from 192 countries are going to take part in the Games, which will be held for the first time in the region of the Middle East and North Africa.

The festival pays tribute to the living heritage of the “mother of the nation”, Her Highness Sheikh Fatima Bint Mubarak, High Chairperson of the Family Development Fund, Chairperson of the General Women's Union and Chairperson of the High Council on Maternity and Children. It embodies the inspirational values of empowerment, conservation, cooperation, and environmental and socio-economic sustainability. Together with a spirit of camaraderie and a sense of community, Mother of the Nation is committed to providing a wide range of high-quality entertainment in the form of performances, seminars, dinners, fairs, and family events for 12 days.

The festival will be a reflection of the “Year of Tolerance” (the main theme of 2019 in the UAE), and the events will habitually take place along the Cornish Abu Dhabi promenade. The festival will offer everyone something different, from musical and entertainment performances and art exhibitions to interactive seminars, which will be held in addition to the recently presented Special Olympics program. An eSports Championship will also be held in the Achievement Zone, and the Happiness Zone will be filled with a number of exciting events.

Another exciting event of the festival will be the fascinating touring show "Cirque du Soleil", which will debut in the Middle East, first appearing in Abu Dhabi. An impressive production presented together with the Alchemy project entitled Bazar will be an exciting and vibrant performance that pays tribute to the legacy of Cirque du Soleil. Its premiere will be held on March 6 and will last until March 16 on the island of Yas.

The show will become a diverse laboratory of unlimited creativity, where a fun troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians will create an amazing sight. Led by their maestro, they come together to invent a unique, one-of-a-kind universe, and a colorful group will rethink, rebuild and reinvent bright scenes in an artistic, acrobatic game of order and chaos.
