At the highest point of the United Arab Emirates opens a luxury tent resort

Authorities have chosen an operator for a new luxury resort at the highest point of the United Arab Emirates.

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has entered into an agreement with Mantis to set up a luxury campground on the highest mountain in the UAE - Jebel Jais.

A statement was made by Haytam Mattar, CEO of RAKTDA, and John Hannah, Managing Director of Mantis UK, at ITB Berlin, the world's largest travel trade show.

A luxurious mountain camp will be located at an altitude of approximately 700 meters above sea level. All year round, the temperature here is about 10 degrees lower than in other regions of the UAE.

The project is expected to be completed in 2020. The tent camp will consist of 47 luxury apartments - 34 luxury tents, 11 two-room suites, as well as two three-room suites with a private pool. Special resort amenities include a health club, heated pool, spa and wellness center, children's playground and restaurant.

The project complements a number of attractions, mountain attractions and adventure tourism objects of the emirate.

Mattar said: “The launch of the luxury camp project once again demonstrates the emirate’s commitment to attract investment in environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism solutions.”

Hannah added: “We are extremely grateful to the Tourism Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah for the trust placed in us to contribute to the emirate's ever-growing tourism industry. The luxury camp will be a unique destination to attract a wide range of guests.”
