Dubai developer will not tax cleaners in their buildings with a new "tax"

The Dubai developer will not charge cleaners and other workers for access to their clients' apartments.

On August 6, 2019, it became known that the Dubai-based Damac Properties developer will not charge money from technical and service personnel for accessing the apartments of clients who live in the buildings of the developer.

Recall, last week Damac announced a new maintenance fee of 20 dirhams ($ US 5.45) per day for entering the buildings. Representatives of the company motivated the introduction of a kind of "tax" by the desire to protect the residents of their buildings. As planned, permission could be obtained by persons licensed and registered with local authorities.

However, this move was met with protests from tenants and property owners in Damac buildings. Dissatisfied residents signed a petition demanding to stop charging workers. Despite the fact that in the scheme proposed by Damac, the payment of fees falls on the performers, it is very likely that in the end employees will raise prices for their services and customers will have to pay the “tax”.

The company announced that it will refuse fees, but will still require employees to go through the registration process.
