The discussion "Pioneer of Modernism" with Ibrahim El Salahi will be held in the Louvre Abu Dhabi on April 18. The moderator of the discussion will be Maysa Al Cassimi, program manager of the Guggenheim Museum in Abu Dhabi.
Ibrahim El Salahi is one of the progenitors of contemporary art in Sudan and one of the key participants in African modernism. He was one of the founders of the Khartoum School in 1960, sought to develop an art practice that was consistent with the cultural heritage of Sudan. His work combines geometry, Islamic motifs, calligraphic forms and images created based on the motives of African and Western art.
