Warhol. From the collection of Peter Brant

At first there was a can. Then 32 cans. Then - “One Hundred ...”, and then “Two hundred cans of Campbell's soup”!
Initially, rice and tomato soup was presented in the painting technique, then silk-screen printing was taken as the basis. The value of the soup grew before our eyes! This annoyed serious art critics who reproached Warhol for vulgarity and singing vulgarity of mass culture. But his red cans in the Stabl gallery caused a great deal of resonance. And soon became the "calling cards" of the bright representative of pop art, "revealing the essence of Western civilization." And he, using all new means of expression - comics, collages, photos, videos, advertisements, believed that objects of pop art should be repeated and multiplied until they lost their meaning!
Available until March 9 at the Palazzo Reale di Milano.
