Dubai will host 20 million tourists in 2020

Dubai intends to double the flow of tourists to the emirate within a few years and already in 2020 will receive 20 million foreign visitors. This was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister, Vice President of the UAE and ruler of Dubai. "We understand how ambitious these goals are, and we also know how important it is to achieve them, to make them a reality. I am confident that the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing (DTCM) will cope with the task, especially given its previous achievements," said Sheikh Mohammed. At the same time, the ruler of Dubai noted that tourism is a huge range of services, and one agency cannot be solely responsible for its development.

“It is necessary that other state institutions and companies take part in the implementation of these plans in order to strengthen the economy,” the UAE Prime Minister said.

It is worth noting that over the past 8 years, Dubai has managed to double the volume of tourist flow: if in 2002 there were 5 million tourists in the emirate, today their number has already exceeded 10 million people. According to Helal Al Marri, DTCM CEO, one of the points of attraction for a wide range of tourists will be large projects that will be implemented in Dubai. "We will have more theme parks, a new safari park, new shopping centers will appear. In addition, we are actively working to preserve the cultural and historical heritage. I expect that in the coming years we will also open several new family entertainment centers," said head of DTCM.

The agency in the near future is going to increase the number of tourists from the regions of Latin America, China and Africa, as well as increase the number of repeat visits. One of the ambitious goals of the emirate is to host the international Expo2020 exhibition in 2020, which will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. “The exhibition will give us a great opportunity to showcase all our achievements to the world,” Al Marri believes.

Another goal is the growth of the number of rooms: it is worth recalling that today in Dubai, 80 thousand rooms at 599 hotels and apart-hotels, which bring about $ 5.13 billion to its economy, are presented to its guests. This figure is also planned to be increased by 23 times, including by increasing the length of stay of guests.
