Interviewed by Irina Ivanova Alexander Terekhov is a very young, but already popular Russian designer. While still a student, in 1999 Terekhov became the second at the Russian Silhouette contest with the Twilight collection and went on an internship to the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house, where he studied the whole process of creating a thing: from a sketch to a collection dress. In 2002, the designer created a series of concert costumes for domestic pop artists, and in 2003 a personal exhibition of his sketches took place.
Terekhov’s debut collection Elf's corporation was first presented at Moscow Fashion Week, then he held his second show at the Olimpus Fashion Week in New York and opened TEREXOV brand stores in London, Los Angeles, Milan, Paris and Moscow. Alexander, it is very nice to see your creations in one of the prestigious stores in Dubai, Saks Fifth Avenue. Please share how you entered the UAE, what attracted you to this country?
Entering the country is, first of all, a merit and a well-built system of our showroom in Milan and brand director Olga Kredina, who, together with the team, did a great job to expand our foreign market.
It is a great honor for me, oriental women and oriental style are very interesting and attractive. Unfortunately, I myself have not had time to visit the Emirates, but I hope that I will soon have such a chance.
What are you guided by when choosing outfits for the East, are there any specific limitations?
After the sales season, they always tell me about the features associated with a particular country where the orders came from. When planning the collection, we try to take into account these features - the length of the skirts and the depth of the neckline, silhouettes, colors.
Do you plan to hold a show here in the near future?
I would like! Perhaps we can come up with something along with Dubai's Saks Fifth Avenue.
Among the admirers of the brand Alexander Terekhov there are many Russian and foreign stars, can you name the names of famous clients from the Arab world? A woman dressed in a dress from Terekhov - what is she?
I never talk about my clients. If they consider it necessary, they themselves tell about me or my things. And a woman dressed in my outfits, according to marketing research and our observations, is a beautiful, intelligent, noble, intelligent, successful and, of course, with a sense of humor! For me, the latter is the most significant indicator.
What exactly, in your opinion, allows a woman to feel attractive, and what role does clothing play in this?
Self-confidence and sense of humor.
How do you comment on fashion trends today? What are we leaving, and what are we striving for now?
At the Alexander Terekhov brand, we adhere to the principle of “timeless, fashionless”. My design is a classic filed taking into account today's trends. At the same time, we strive to ensure that our outfits purchased today are relevant in 10 and 20 years
Does your life go on the expected course? How and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I live today, almost without thinking about the eternal!
