Dubai to build two 45 km bike trails

In accordance with the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, the Committee on Roads and Transport (RTA) began construction of two bicycle routes with a total length of more than 45 km in the emirate. Trails are located in the Seih Assalam and Al Qudrah areas. The cost of their construction will be 19 million dirhams (US $ 5.1 million).

This project is expected to become one of the largest sports facilities in the emirate. It is designed specifically for cycling enthusiasts. The design of bicycle tracks was carried out in full compliance with safety standards. “Work on the project began at the end of February this year. It will take us 120 days to complete it. I think that construction will be completed at the end of June,” said Mattar Al Thayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RTA. “The length of the first route is 18 km. It runs on the northern side of the Al Qudra Road, starts at the first roundabout, runs along Dubai Bypass Road to the roundabout at the intersection of Bab Al Shams Road and Al Qudrah Roads, and connects to the second bike route. "

The second route, according to Al Thayer, has a length of 27 km. It starts in front of the Bab Al Shams Hotel, then runs to the roundabout on Al Qudrah Road, and then turns south towards the Seih Al Dahal.
