A new image of a legend

In honor of a significant date, a priceless stone was placed in a necklace of dazzling diamonds and platinum, striking elegance and modern elegance. For a year, skilled craftsmen have created this masterpiece, whose total weight of white diamonds exceeds 100 carats (including 20 diamonds patented by Lucida cut company and 58 round diamonds). A total of 481 sparkling hand-cut stones are inserted into the frame. Like generations of experienced craftsmen, skilled craftsmen subjected all used diamonds to careful manual cutting and secured them, one after the other, on a precious basis, creating a decoration of a modern “flowing” design, gently wrapping around the neck and emitting rays of light with every light movement.

“Changing the Tiffany diamond frame confirms our focus on the future and our commitment to design innovation,” said John King, Tiffany & Co Executive Vice President. "This diamond is the most important gem in the world, it emphasizes the vision of the founder of the company, because his acquisition of this stone laid the foundation of the Tiffany diamond heritage."

Tiffany is one of the largest and most beautiful yellow diamonds in the world. The history of its origin is well known to gemologists, historians and jewelry collectors. Found at the Kimberley Diamond Mine in South Africa in 1877, a yellow diamond weighing 287.42 carats was purchased the following year by company founder Charles Lewis Tiffany. This acquisition strengthened Mr. Tiffany's reputation as the “King of Diamonds” and made his company a recognized expert on these gems. The diamond was delivered to Paris, where, under the leadership of Tiffany's leading gemologist, Dr. Georg Frederic Kunz, it turned into a 128.54-carat cushion cut diamond with an unprecedented number of facets 82, that is 24 faces more than a standard facet with 58 facets. The width of the stone is slightly more than an inch, and its thickness is 7/8 inches (1 inch is 2.54 cm). Faceted so that it is advantageous to present its bright color and purity, and not size, the diamond sparkles, as if illuminated by an internal fire. This delightful stone has been honored with many awards at the world's greatest exhibitions.

Only two women wore Tiffany diamond jewelry. Socialite Mary Whitehouse donned a magnificent necklace with the legendary stone at the Tiffany Ball in New Port, Rhode Island in 1957; and actress Audrey Hepburn posed in 1961 for promotional photos before the release of the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany's” in a necklace created by Jean Schlumberger, in which the famous diamond rested in an elegant interweaving of sparkling ribbons studded with smaller diamonds.

Schlumberger also used this stone to create the famous Bird on the Rock brooch for his retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris.

At the end of the world tour, which includes Tokyo and Beijing, the necklace will return to its permanent place of honor on the main floor of the Tiffany store on New York 5th Avenue, and be sure to open for the Tiffany diamond a new brilliant era full of respectful interest in stone and its great heritage.

In the period from December 13 to January 9, the yellow Tiffany necklace with a yellow diamond became a real star of the impressive Diamond Heritage exhibition in Dubai. The exhibits also included jewelry from Tiffany vaults, which have created a unique brand style for almost two centuries, as well as a modern collection of handmade jewelry with stones first introduced to the world and the world's rarest color diamonds.

The Diamond Heritage exhibition, housed in the atrium of The Dubai Mall, includes three sections. The Gilded Age section (1876-1916) shows Tiffany diamonds created in this luxurious era, along with a diamond and emerald brooch from the royal treasury of France, acquired by the company in 1887. The Nature Inspired section displays archival botanical illustrations and jewelry, such as a pearl diamond chrysanthemum brooch and an enamel orchid brooch, which were included in the Tiffany exhibit, which received a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889 . The New York Glamor section emphasizes that Tiffany is a precious symbol of the city of the “big apple”, the jewelry exhibited in it imitates the famous sky scrapers in art deco style.

Visitors can view the Precious Heritage collection with a collection of jewelry with stones first introduced to the world in Tiffany products, including: shimmering pink morganite found in Madagascar; lilac pink kunzit from California; Tanzanite, found in Tanzania and loved for its color, reflecting the blue of the ocean with purple sparks; and a tsavorite characterized by a rich green hue radiating energy.

Placed in elaborate frames, these sparkling diamonds and stones are the epitome of great tradition and modern luxury. Together with the legendary jewelry and the amazing Tiffany diamond, they pay tribute to the 175th anniversary of the House and give connoisseurs, gem collectors and jewelery historians a unique opportunity to touch a truly magnificent heritage.
